BARON DARUGHONVice PresidentBaron grew up building houses with his father on the Outer Banks of NC. He started working with CAD design while in high school and received a degree in engineering technology at WCU.
While living in Colorado, he lost his job working as a designer and project manager for the engineered woods products industry after the 2008 housing crash. With the high prices of rent, he found that reducing the cost of housing would allow a more affordable and sustainable way of living, so he started to go back to school to study sustainable design. Here he learned the different building materials and techniques that would not only increase energy performance, but often reduce construction cost as well. After working as a designer and project manager out west and a Solar PV installer in the north east he settled back with his new family in the mountains of North Carolina. Baron has lived surrounded in a culture that values being self sufficient, living sustainably and being debt free. He believes his work at the The Small Home Center will help others find their way to living the life that's just right. Baron is also credited with...
